The Honda Fit EV provides about 80 miles of range, and is rated at the equivalent of an impressive 118 miles per gallon. But Honda remains uncommitted to electric cars, so after making just 1,100 units over a 20-month period, Fit EV production will be halted.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday that a recent series of price cuts from automakers aimed at increasing the attractiveness of their electric vehicle models has been successful, leading to long waiting lists for the Honda Fit EV and strong dealer demand for cars like the Fiat 500e and Chevy Spark.

Honda Fit EV’s B Gear Increases Regen Braking, But Not Substantially

My one-week loan with the Honda Fit EV ended today. Most of my exploration of the car focused this week was on the Fit EV’s unique proposition: multiple mode settings. The modes give drivers the choice to emphasize range, performance or a balance of both. As I’ve argued for some time, what makes a great electric car is not acceleration—it’s how it brakes. So, in the last few days, I used the “B” gear as much as possible in the Fit EV. When you slip the Fit EV into B, there is a noticeable increase in grab from the regenerative braking system.

Honda Registers First Fit EV Delivery

Right on schedule, Honda today announced its first delivery of the Fit EV to a couple in Woodland Hills, Calif. Longtime Honda customers Matt and Becky Walton received their Fit after being first to sign up for the car on Honda's registration website (no celebrity preference here,) saying they plan to use it as their main everyday commuter vehicle.
